Forensic Analysis with Metro State University
While attending community college full time as a high school student, I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Filbin-Wong and Cesar Garcia on a blood analysis research project. We then presented out findings at the 2017 Metro State Undergraduate Research Conference.
In 2017, I had the opportunity to work as a research assistant in the Forensics lab at Metro State University. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I took the bus to Metro State and spent 4 hours assisting undergraduate Cesar Garcia and Dr. Megan Filbin-Wong. Our project, "Effect of Bleach and Bleach Neutralization on the Detection of Blood in Forensic Analysis," aimed to find a way to confirm the existence of blood on a sample of fabric after it had been cleaned with bleach. My job mainly involved setting up samples and taking notes, but I also presented the poster alongside Cesar at the 2017 Metro State Undergraduate Research Conference.
